1. Sang Good Afternoon song
2. Shirley invited tots to read "Color of his own" with her. Png Png read first few pages with Shirley
3. Shirley asked tots what are the lizards we learned last week? - Noisy lizard Gecko, lizard that eats plant Iguana, purple color tongue Gila Monster
Shirley showed picture of crocodile and asked tot what animal is that. Tots answered crocodile. How to tell it's a crocodile? It has long body, short legs, long tail, why isn't it a lizard? It has sharp teeth. What is it's teeth for? To bite prey. Do you have sharp teeth like the crocodile? Only 2 at the side of the mouth. If a crocodile comes close to you and sit still in front of you, can you touch it? Can you put your hand or head in the mouth of the crocodile if it opens it's mouth? Can you tickle it, hug it, kiss it? No. Why? it will bit your hand or your head if you put them in crocodile's mouth and your hand or head will be gone. Crocodile has powerful tail that can sweep you off
What is the animal that slithers on the ground? Snake. Does it have leg? No. Does it have sharp teeth like the crocodile? No. It has 2 fangs. What else has fangs? It has 8 legs, black in color with red hour glass print. Spider. Shirley showed picture of tortise and asked what is it? Tortise. It has a hard shell. What is the shell for? Is it for it to hide when it rains? No. It's for tortise to hide from predator. Tortise hide it's legs, head and tail in the shell when it is scared. What else have hard shell? Snail.
Shirley said child's knowledge stored in the brain is like shelves in the library. Teaching them similarities and differences is to put the shelves next to each other. There is no point teaching 500 breads of dog. Teach a few bread will do. It is more important to teach them similarities and differences so that they can link the different knowledge they acquired and categorise them
Shirley assign each tot to distribute acitivity sheet to the class. Png Png did that too
4. Parents to teach tot the 4 types of reptiles. Describe to tot the similarities, differences, special features like what Shirley did
5. Tots to match individual alphabet to the alphabet of the word chameleon and lizard. This activity is to teach word recognition and word is made up of alphabet
6. Sang Good bye song.
I did the cover page of this lapbook with Png Png by using hole puncher to puch paper than paste on picture of a chameleon to demonstrate bumpy skin of the chameleon. Using hole puncher to punch hole trainned Png Png on motor skill. We also used paint to paint the chameleon.
