Lap booking class Term 1 lesson 9

Today we did

1. Sang Good Afternoon song

2. Shirley asked tots did they paint last week? What color were used? She returned the color mixture tots did last week to the tots

3. Shirley showed picture of 3 chameleons. She asked tot to point to chameleon that has 3 horns on the head. She said the other 2 chameleon are the same kind but different in color. Chameleon changes color when angry example it saw a butterfly and wanted to eat the butterfly. Another chameleon ate the butterfly. So, the chameleon was angry and changed color. Chameleon changes to light color when it feels hot. If it is green in color, it changes to light green color. Shirley asked tot "Do you change color when you are hot?" No, you just sweat and take off your clothes. Chameleon can't take off clothes. It has no clothes but skin. It changes color when it feels cold. It changes to red color to attract other chameleon. It changes to red color to ask for friends to go near it.

Chameleon has long body, 4 short legs and a long tail. So, it is a lizard. There are many other types of lizards. Shirley introduced few more.

She showed picture of a gecko and asked it if has nose? No it has nostrils. It has a slit in eyes to it's protect eyes. She showed picture of a gecko using it's tongue to clean eye. She said gecko's tongue is very long, can reach the eye. It uses it's tongue to clean it's eye.

She asked tot to try if their tongue can touch their eye, nose. We use eye lid to clean our eye. Gecko is a noisy lizard. It makes geck geck geck sound and Shirley made geck geck geck sound. That attracted Png Png's attention. Other lizards don't make sound. Special thing about gecko is that it has sticky pads on the legs. It can walk upside down. The house lizard is gecko. It comes out at night and makes geck geck geck sound. Shirley said if mummy uses a stick to poke gecko's tail, it will shake shake shake (she shaked her butt) and shake off it's tail leaving the tail behind and ran away. Shirley showed picture of a gecko with a short new grown tail. She pointed to the tail and told tot that gecko's tail dropped off and grow a new tail.

Gila (pronounced as he la) monster is another kind of lizard. It is fat and has sharp claws. Shirley asked what are the sharp claws for? What other animals have sharp claws? Lion, tiger, owl. What do they use the claws for? To grab prey

4. Picture of gila monster, gecko and iguana were given to tots. Parents to describe to tot the difference between the 3 types of lizard
Gecko - eats insects, makes geck geck geck sound, has sticky pads on feets, tail grows again after dropped off
Iguana - has spikes from neck to tail, eats plants
Gila monsger - it has forked like tongue that is purple in color. Tongue produces poisonous venom. Eats animals. Very big lizard

5. Shirley gave out picture on food that chameleon eats. Small chameleon eats insects. Shirley suggested to parents to ask tots can small chameleon eat birds? No. Why not? Big chameleon eats birds. Where do they find their food?

6. Sang Good bye song

Lap booking class Term 1 lesson 8

Png Png was still weak from gastric flu. However, he wanted to attend lapbook class. We were late but just in time before the actual teaching started

We did

1. Shirley placed 4 nobs of the same size on the floor. 3 nobs were yellow in color, 1 nob was green in color. Shirley asked tots which was the odd one out or which one was different. After the tot got the correct answer she asked why the green nob was the odd one out. Because it was different in color

Shirley placed 3 same color nobs and 1 bigger size bottle cap on the floor and asked which was the odd one out and why

Next, Shirley placed 3 same size bottle caps of different shade of blue and 1 gold color bigger bottle cap and asked which is the odd one out and why
Then, Shirley placed 3 yellow nobs clipped with green nob and a yellow nob clipped with red nob and asked which was the odd one out. Why?

Shirley commented Png Png was living in his own world during the lesson. She is very observant. I told her Png Png was not feeling well

2. Shirley drew the following groups of pictures on white board and asked which is the odd one out

3. Tot was given a piece of paper folded into 3 sections. Parent had to draw 9 circles or get tot to help to draw 9 circles on the paper. Tot to scoop paint and paint the circle with index finger the following color combination
yellow + red = orange
red + blue = purple
blue + yellow = green
This activity let the children see what is the secondary color with the primary color combination. Shirley said let tot try more of a primary color to give different shade of primary color
4. Tot to identify the odd one out chameleon from the activity sheet given by Shirley. Shirley said identifying odd one out from a piece of paper is more difficult as it is 2 dimension. More difficult when the picture has no color. The pictures in the activity that Shirley gave has subtle difference. That makes it even more diffcult for the tots
5. Sang Good bye song

Gazillion Bubble Show

Holiday programme that hubby arranged for Chen Chen was to catch Fan Yang's Gazillion Bubble Show at Downtown East D'Marquee
Hubby made a mistake when purchasing the tickets on line from SISTIC. He started by trying to order a $58 ticket. The transaction didn't go through. Then, he ordered two $38 tickets. Again the transaction failed. He ordered two $38 tickets for the third time and all the five tickets went through. He was unable to cancel the other unwanted transactions yet unable to sell the tickets in various forums. So, my mom, sister in law, Png Png and I all attended the performance as well.

The creator Fan yang was borned in Vietnam from a poor family. He likes rainbow when he was a boy. His dream was to touch the rainbow. It was this dream that brings him to what he is today. Hmm... bet he earns a big buck from the performances by looking at the crowd at the performance.
Fan Yang has explored the fascinating unknown world of soap bubbles over the past two decades, combining art with science. He is currently a 16-time Guinness Book of World Record Holder for the biggest bubble ever blown, the largest bubble wall ever created.Fan Yan's son and protege, 21 year old Deni Yang performed as well. He performed the breath-taking laser extravaganza - the Ocean of Giant Bubbles that filled the arena! In this Matrix-like segment, you will see him grabbing and moving laser beams against the pulsating music of Prodigy. With dramatic lighting and thousands of small bubbles, the audience will get to experience what it is like to be under-the-ocean, right from the comfort of their seats
The shows let audience step into an interactive bubble world and be enchanted by spellbinding lasers, spectacular lighting effects and masterpieces of bubble artistry.

My boys at the $38 seats before the performance started.
My mom and sister in law were in the $38 seats as well. I didn't know that the audience had to climb very steep steps to go up to the $38 seats. Otherwise I would ask my mom to go to the $58 seat which is nearer to the stage and need not to walk up any step. However, we only had 1 ticket for $58 seat. I took the $58 seat with Png Png on my lap
Present the Gazillion Bubble Show
We thought the performance ended during the interval. There was no announcement that there will be an interval or when it was interval time. We were wondering why the performance was so short and the other audiences remained in the seat. I walked around with Png Png
Luckily we didn't leave the Marqueen. We roamed around and took pictureChen Chen played with the bubbles on the stage after the performance ended
