Lap booking class term 2 lesson 7

Today we did a new literature The Carrot Seed. We did
1. Teacher Shirley read the book The Carrot Seed
2. After reading the book, teacher Shirley turned to the last page and talked about wheelbarrow - some wheel barrows have 1 wheel, some have 2; wheel barrow is used to transport item that is too big and heavy;
3. She asked the tots where does the little boy bring the carrot to? A tot answered bring it home. Teacher Shirley said yes bring home for mummy to cook. Then she asked how to cook such a big carrot? Either need a big pot or chop the carrot into small pieces. She asked if tot ever try both baby carrot and the normal size carrot. The taste is different for both
4. Teacher Shirley pointed to the picture of the boy planting the carrot seed. She said the boy bend down to plant the seed. She asked what does the boy use to dig the soil. Png Png answered spade. Teacher Shirley said yes use spade to dig soil from gound level, if use a hoe, one has to pull it over the shoulder then dig, if use rake then use pulling action. She said can also use fingers to dig soil. She action how to plant a seed. She gave each tot an "invisable" seed and asked them to plant the seed using any gardening tools they like. Then cover up the soil, pat the soil and water the seed.
5. Teacher Shirley gave out a picture of a girl watering in the garden, described the picture and read the rhyme.
6. Tots were given magic ink to color the watering can and shoes 7. Tots were given a cardboard cut in crescent shape. This is letter C. Tot had to tear orange color crepe paper and paste on the letter C carboard. Lastly put 2 green hairy wire through a hole at the tip of the letter C to make carrot stalk
8. Teacher Shirley sang the song (sing to the tune of I am a tea pot)
I am a little seed in the dark dark ground
Out comes the warm sun yellow and round
Down come the rain wet and slow
Out comes the little seed grow grow grow
9. Sang good bye song
