I didn't realise Chen Chen and Png Png wore same color scheme clothes till I write this posting

Bright Tots Campus term 1 lesson 3

Today I have to travel with Png Png by MRT Chen Chen's I Creative Learner lesson started Hubby has to send and fetch Chen Chen

Travel by MRT was smooth sailing. I was lost when I alighted at Novena MRT station. With the help of the 2 ladies at information counter at Square 2 and Velocity, I managed to get to the nursing room on the 3rd level at Velocity to nurse Png Png before going for the lesson

When I as about to step out of Velocity, it started to pour. Gosh! What's worse the cab driver didn't know where the condo is. He said there are many condos in that area. Called hubby but he couldn't help either. Luckily I remembered teacher Shirley said the condo is along the way from a hotel Then the cab driver drove along that road

In this lesson, we

1. Sing Good morning and Rainbow song

2. Spoon the color buttons into 2 paper cups according to the colors. Png Png can't even hold a spoon He used his hands to pick up the buttons

3. Hold a color button in the spoon and walk to the table to put the button in a container Of course, Png Png can't do that At least he could hold spoon after this activity

4. Teacher Shirley read a book on chameleon to teach color

5. The tots were given a leaf each to feel the texture of leaf

6. Tots were given a picture of chameleon, crayon and leaf to trace the leave and color the part of the chameleon the same color as the leaf near that part of the body

7. Teacher Shirley took a "magic bag" and let each tot pick up an item in the magic bag. Suprisingly all the tots who aren't shy like Png Png dare not put their hands in the magic bag except Png Png He picked up a yellow block then the other tots follow suit. There were block, yarn, aluminium foil, toy brocoli, brush in the bag

8. Teacher Shirley flahsed cards on words, pictures of fruits (encyclopedia cards), color She explained to parents and answered queries on flash cards. She said according to GD, flash 5 cards a day, then add another 5 new cards till the 5th day ie max 25 cards, then retire the first set of 5 cards and introduce 5 new cards What I read GD method is to introduce 5 cards, flash the 5 cards thrice for 5 days, introduce a new card and retire an old card

JWT trial

Chen Chen is having a term break for I Creative Learner class, so I took this opportunity to bring Png Png to JWT for trial lesson. However, I can't sit in the lesson with him as I have very bad flu. Png Png cried loudly at the start of the lesson

Png Png enjoyed jumping in Jumperoo though he looked terrified in the pictures. Felt like buying a jumperoo for him but dropped the idea as he should be walking soon and a jumperoo is very expensive even for a 2nd hand one

Bright Tots Campus term 1 lesson 2

Today we reached the condo before the lesson started

What we did in this lesson

1. Sing Good Morning song I leanred this from MMI and sing to Png Png every morning I am with him

2. Teacher Shirley used coffee filter paper and drew dots and stripes on 1 side of the paper using water colors then folded the paper and asked the tots to use their "magic" fingers to press the paper. There was the same print on the blank side when the paper was opened up. This teaches the tots the term "symmetry"

3. Parents tore color stripes into square shape, glued a butterfly shape paper then let the tots paste the color square papers on the butterfly The tots were given magic ink to draw dots on the butterfly

4. Spot the difference between 3 butterflies. Acutally 2 butterflies are the same, 1 is different from the other 2 Parents have to describe the picture to the tots and help them to spot the difference This activity sharpens a child's observation skill

5. Fishing the paper fish. This activity teaches shapes (different shapes of magnet as "hook" to fish rod) and colors and trains hand and eye coordination

6. Sing rainbow song in English and Chinese. Theme of the term is "A colorful world" so we sing this song for this term
