Bright Tots Campus term 3 lesson 1

This term will be the last term for Png Png in Bright Tots Campus. He will join Lapbooking class Jan next year. I look forward to attending lapbooking class with him


There are 3 new tots joining this term. Teacher Shirley said that tots for this class are older (at least 18month), she will train on concentration span. The theme for this term is transportation as all the tots for this class are boys

This lesson we did

1. Sing good morning, I am special and Wheel on the bus songs


2. Teacher Shirley read the book "Busy Bus"


3. Each tot was given a paper plate with a hole in the center to pretend that it is a sterring wheel to action along with the song Drive, drive, drive your car
4. There are 5 stations with different activities. Each tot will do activity at each station for about 5 min then move to the next station. These stations are called concentration stations. They are meant to train tot's concentration span
Station 1 has toy fire engine, ambulence, jeep, excavator and cement mixture. There are 5 corresponding cards. Parents are to explain to the child the features of each vehicle then tot to match toy against the card
Station 2 has 3 books. 1 book is on excavator. There is a button to press on and will make brmm brmm sound when pressed on. 1 book is on dump truck. It has 2 big wheels at the bottom and the book can be 'buttoned" with velco tape. There is another same kind of book as the dump truck which talks about sports car. Very interesting books. I like the sports car book the most. It talks about different brand of sports cars - Porsche, Ferrari. McLaren
Station 3 has 4 big bus cards and 4 small corresponding bus cards. The cards come in 4 colors - red, yellow, blue and green. Parents are to describe the bus to the tots and count the no of windows on the bus and tots have to match the big and small bus cards
Station 4 has small cards with picture of aeroplane, train, fire engine, bus and boat. Each picture has 2 cards. Tots have to match the cards
Station 5 has 2 piece puzzle of bus, helicopter, boat and train. Tots have to fix the puzzle


5. Each tot was given a purple rectangle paper, 2 black circle papers, 1 big yellow square paper. Teacher Shirley left many small yellow square papers on the table. Parents have to teach tots to pick up just 7 pieces of yellow square papers to make bus. This teaches tots to count, take turn and share. Png Png was interested in playing with the glue only

Graduation concert 2009 at Nanyang Academy Of Fine Arts (NAFA)

The graduation concert this year is "My dream around the world". The story is about a K2 Carpe Diem student Xiao Ming who wishes to travel around the world before he goes to P1. On his birthday, he received many presents from his friend. Among the presents is a magic flower. The magic flower brings Xiao Ming to many countries. The kids performed cultural dances of the different countries Xiao Ming visited. I like this story and the performance very much.

Chen Chen performed in Africian tribe dance, Egyptian dance, Russian ballet, acted as Xiao Ming in Spain and Finale "I have a dream" and "Amigos Para Siempre"

Finally, my little baby dozed off and I could enjoy the concert. I walked up and down the stairs with him almost through the entire performance

Mummy's birthday

We celebrated mummy's birthday in advance at Sakura International buffet restaurant. This was per Chen Chen's request cause there was ice-cream in the buffet spread. Both Chen Chen and Png Png outgrown this walker but they still enjoyed looking at the fishes moving in the aquarium

Have you seen my Cat? from Eric Carle

Eric Carle wrote many good books. Besides the famous "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", both Png Png and I like another book by the title "Have you seen my cat?" This book is about a little boy who goes around the world to find his lost cat. He finds different animals from the cat family. Each page has hidden page with a flap for reader to pull out to see the animal the boy found. Besides learning different animals in the cat family, readers also learn about people from different countries. It also trains baby's motor skill. English gentleman and LionCowboy and Bobcat

Bright Tots Campus term 2 lesson 10

There was a promotion on Shell petrol today. Petrol priced at $1 a litre from 10 am to 6pm. As a result, there was a nassive jam. We got to class a little late though, the lesson has not started yet

Today is the last lesson for this term We did

1 Sing Good morning, I am special and Head, shoulders, knees and toes song

2 Body movement and recite rhyme " I have ten fingers"

3 Teacher Shirley read a story title "Me and my daddy"

4 Teacher Shirley demonstrated putting on an adult size hat, a toy hat and a baby socks on a toy bear to teach contrast between big and small hat and how to put on socks. Compare and contrast nature sharper observation, reasoning, language and analytical skill

5 Each tot were given a picture of watch, hand bag, a pair of socks and a pair of glasses to paste on a picture of a human being. Obviously, this is to teach tot where we put those assessories. There was no ear on the picture of the human being. This is to train the tot observation skill

6 Played a game by putting a rubber band on a short fat straw then walked from a point to another point and dropped the rubber band into a container

7 Each tot were given 6 round stickers (yellow, blue and green 2 each) a long broad strip of paper with double sided tapes, a thin short strip of paper and a blue piece of paper with a star sticker to make a hat. Parents made the hat, tots pasted the round stickers

8 Recite chinese rhyme "Wo you yi zhang lian"

Being spiked to use chopstick

We were playing a game of scooping cap with spoon. This is challenging for Png Png but piece of cake for Chen Chen.

I asked Chen Chen many times to learn to use chopsticks but he refused. It stroke my mind to let Chen Chen play this game by using chopstick. Still, Chen Chen refused to do so. Surprisingly Png Png grabbed the chopsticks

He strugged his way to pick up the cap. He managed to pick up the plastic cap twice. My mum, sister in law and I cheered for Png Png. This spiked Chen Chen to use chopstick to play the game. Look at the way Chen Chen and Png Png hold chopsticks. Png Png hold chopsticks in the correct way naturally

Bright Tots Campus term 2 lesson 9

It was Deepavali holiday. Chen Chen had no lesson at I Creative Learner. Hubby was outstation in Hong Kong. It was a very last minute arrangement. It was decided on Wednesday that he had to go to Hong Kong and he flew off on Friday morning, just for 2 days. He left on Friday morning and came back midnight on Saturday. Chen Chen insisted that he wanna follow me to Png Png's class. I asked Teacher Shirley's permission and she was so nice to let Chen Chen sit in the class


Today we did

1. Sing Good morning, I am special, Head Shoulders knees and toes song

2. Do body movement

3. Recite and action on rhyme I have ten fingers

4. Free play with building blocks for a while then each tot took turn to stack a piece of block on a block placed in the center. This teaches tots to take turn

5. Teacher Shirley poured black color paint and red color paint on 2 paper plates and let the tots do hand printing. Chen Chen kept saying that he wanna do hand printing very loudly. Gosh!
6. Teacher Shirley read the book Doing the animal bop

7. The tots played a game of scooping color buttons with spoon and walked to the table then put the button in the plastic carton for holding eggs. This teaches balancing and aiming as the tots need to aim probably to put a button in each hole of the carton. Chen Chen wanted to join in the game Teacher Shirley asked him to wait till the tots finished the game. She didn't let him play the game after everyone finished. He was very angry and kept repeating "she said will let me play the game, I want to play the game" then he went behind the sofa to spit saliva. What a shame!

8. Sing good bye song


Chen Chen insisted that he wanted to play the game. Teacher Shirley told him there are 2 playgrounds downstairs and he can play there. Chen Chen shouted "where got!" I really don't know where to hide myself. He made me loose my face in front of so many people. I will not bring him to Png Png's class anymore

When we went down, Chen Chen insisted that he want to find the other playground but we couldn't find it

Bright Tots Campus term 2 lesson 8

Today we did

1. Sing Good morning, I am special and Head shoulders knees and toes song

2. Do body actions such as wriggle toes, march, kick legs, touch nose and head, stomp feet, in sitting position move both legs to the right/left

3. Teacher Shirley read a book Doing the animal bop

4. Teacher Shirley used 2 stuffed toy snakes, 1 big and 1 small to teach big vs small, long vs short, colorful (small snake) vs dual color (big snake), pulling (pull the snake's tail/tongue). She glided the snake around the room and made hissing sound. She also asked the tots where is the eye and tongue of snake She said stuffed toys are the best to introduce animals to tots than pictures as 3 dimensional object is better than 2 dimension picture

5. Tots dab paint with cotton bud and dab on cut out snake shape

6. Recite chinese rhyme "Wo you yi zhang lian"

7. Paste hat, pants and round stickers on a human shape figure then count how many circle stickers on the pants, heat, etc. Teacher Shirley said she purposely left out nose and ears so that parents can compare this to the human face craft we did last week to see if tot can spot the missing nose and ears

8. Sing good bye song
