Home teaching - The Apple Pie Tree

The Apple Pie Tree narrates the growth of apple tree through the 4 seasons of a year through a pair of girls.  Their parents made apple pie with the apples they grow.   On the last page of the book, there is recipe of apple pie and also brief on how bees pollinate flowers.

Most of our lapbook materials were taken from http://www.homeschoolshare.com/apple_pie_tree.php
Our lapbook cover is a puzzle.   A lot of help needed for Png Png to complete the puzzle.
The anatomy of flower

Different ways of consuming apples

Craft of apple tree in the 4 seasons.   Png Png painted a piece of A4 size paper brown.  I cut the tree trunk and he cut some branches to glue on the tree trunk.   For spring, we use pink cotton bud to signify apple flowers; for summer, we use the stamp marker from Ikea to signify leaves; for autumn, Png Png finger print the big red apples ready for picking.

Apple patterns.   Png Png drew the correct answer on the last box

Life cycle of an apple

Png Png listed the ingredients for making apple pie.

Antonyms

Songs and poems on apple

Png Png drew and colored number of apples as indicated

This is the first time I baked apple pie.   Apple pie before baking
My boys love to eat the apple pie I baked.
I also baked apple brown betty oatmeal.  I prefer to bake this as it is simplier and taste better

Home teaching - The Little engine that could

The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper is a very interesting book that teaches the moral of believing in oneself and never give up easily and lending a helping hand to others.  I like the catchy signature phrase "I think I can, I think I could".   I always use this to encourage Png Png to persist and don't give up.   But naughty Png Png always tell me the reverse of what the old rusty engine said "I can't, I can't".

Our lapbook cover - painting on shapes to form a train.

Most of our materials were extracted from http://www.homeschoolshare.com/trains_lapbook.php

Vocabularies of train

Trains found in Singapore.   Png Png is very fascinated with this activity

Identify good and bad attitude

 Match words that rhyme

Words that begin with letter T

Types of box cars

Opposites

Cirus animal counting and matching to the numbered box cars.   I was very surprised that Png Png can remember how many animals are there for each animal.   Well, that is more of a short term memory stimulation.

Learn to tell time from train ticket.   The small boxes on the right hand side represent hour.  I let Png Png use hold puncher to punch hole of the time on the clock on the box on the right hand side

I dictated to Png Png to draw hour and minute hands on the clock.   He learned to tell o'clock and half past
