Angry Birds Bento

Chen Chen loves Angry Birds very much. He requested me to make Angry Birds Bento for him. I learned this Angry Birds bento from Eleanor in FB. I didn't follow her pattern exactly but how to make the rice with different sauces.

Rice with plum sauce shaped into triangle shape for the yellow bird

Seaweed for brown and pupil, turnip for white of eye, pineapple or corn for beak

Rice with tomato ketchup. Can't get the red color effect for the red bird

Lap booking class Term 2 lesson 10

We were supposed to be early today. We ended up being late for the class due to the massive jam at the path to Novena Square. And the stupid rain made it impossible for me to alight at the junction and walk to Goldhill Center.

The class commenced when we arrived. I was surprised that there were only 3 tots including Png Png.
We did
1. Shirley showed Eric Carle's Animals, Animals. She showed pictures of animals that appear in Little Mouse wants an apple

Seal - What is the color of this animal? It has flippers. It juggles apples in Little Mouse wants an apple. What does it have on it's face? Whiskers

Elephant - What is this animal? What color is it? Grey with white and black lines. It has toes on it's fat legs. It has 2 tusks. It's tusks are pointed. It has short tail

Kangeroo - What color is kangeroo? Brown, orange with black lines. It has 4 legs, 2 short front legs and 2 long strong hind legs. Animals with strong legs jump very well. It has a strong long tail that helps it to balance when it jumps. When it jumps, it's front legs don't touch the ground. It has a pouch. It's baby sits in the pouch. It's baby goes wherever the mummy goes. What do you call the baby? Joey

Giraffe - what is the color of this animal? Orange with brown patches. It has 4 long legs, long neck, long eye lashes and a tail. It's tail is not as strong as kangeroo's tail. What is that at the tip of it's leg? Is it toes? It's hooves. Same as what horses have. It has a stretch of hair behind it's neck.

Birds - Shirley showed 2 pages with many different types of birds. She asked which is the bird in Little Mouse wants an apple? Different birds have different beaks. Some are short, some are long, some are black, some are orange. Their tails, wings, legs are different too. All birds have wings, tail, 2 legs and a beak.

Rhinoceros - what is the color of this animal? Grey, white and black. It has hair on the ears and tail. It's tail is not as strong as kangeroo's tail, just like elephant and giraffe. There is a bird on the rhinoceros. What is the bird doing? Where is the rhinoceros? What is it doing? It's eating grasses. It is a herbivors. It is a plant eater

Shirley said teach tots to see details in picture not only teach arts appreciation. It also builds vocabs and ability to be descriptive

3. Shirley gave tots picture of a tree. Where is the trunk? What is the color of the leaves? Can it be red? What is red in color on the tree? Apple. The curvy line is the crown of the tree. It shows the shape of the tree. Some trees are triangle in shape, some are round like rain forest trees. She gave tots 9 round stickers to paste as apple. Png Png chose green color stickers as he likes green apples. This activity will teach tots Maths. Parents to guide tots to count total number of stickers. Then get tots to paste 5 or less stickers on the tree and the remainders on the ground. Instead of teaching tots 5 plus 4 equals 9 which means nothing to tots, teach tots there are 9 apples, 5 apples on the tree and 4 drops on the ground. Tots will learn addition slowly through this method. After pasting the stickers, tots had to use index finger to paint the tree trunk brown and the leaves and ground green. Avoid painting on the apples

4. Shirley returned tots the grey mouse painted last week. Tots had to use magic ink to add in details like eyes, mouth, legs, whiskers... Shirley asked what is the mouth eating? Where is it? Is it in a hole or on the tree? These questions guide tots to add in details in the picture.

Shirley advised parents to do the lapbook cover with tots at home pasting the tree and mouse together. She said ask tots what happened to the apples that dropped on the floor? They will rot after some time.

Potty training - begin of success

Sat with Png Png very long. Gave him food, read story book to him while he was in the potty
1 july urined in potty once
4 july urined in potty thrice
5 july urined twice in potty. Coaxed him with durian green bean soup
6 july urined twice in potty. Coaxed him with durian green been soup + craneberries

Pitty him. Everytime he got up from the potty, his buttock was very red from sitting too long on the potty. Hopefully he will be potty trainned from here.
