Lion dance at Rivervale Crest

There was Lion Dance performance outside the club house for Lunar New Year celebration event.   I was busy preparing to send Chen Chen to keyboard lesson.   So, I missed the performance.   Hubby brought the 2 boys to watch the Lion Dance performance but did not manage to snap any picture.

By the time I got to the club house, the Lion Dance performance was over.   I only managed to snap the lucky number left behind by the Lion Dance performance

There was lao yu sheng but we missed it too as we had to send Chen Chen to keyboard lesson.   After Chen Chen's keyboard was over, the Lunar New Year celebration was over as well.

Trip to Batam - fourth day

We are going back to Singapore today.   The boys wanna enjoyed the lovely pool before going back.

There was a slide by the side of the pool which attracted children.   But the water wasn't clear.   Not ideal for swimming.  Chen Chen liked to slide down from the slide.

The hotel manager was very nice to arrange transport to send us to the Sekupang ferry terminal.   While waiting for the transport, Png Png visited the last place he couldn't miss - the mini playground.

Trip to Batam - third day

Happy Lunar New Year!   This is the first time we spent Lunar New Year overseas.   We spent Lunar New Year overseas this year because my father in law passed away last year.   According to Chinese ritual, we are not supposed to celebrate Lunar New Year before the anniversary of the deceased.   We cannot visit friends and give red packet.   Our boys can receive red packet though.   We feel shy to do that.   So, away from home for this Lunar New Year.

Trip to Batam - second day

Golden View Hotel is not near the city.   Good thing the hotel provides transport to 3 shopping malls.   Alas!  We missed the first transport service.   The second service will be in late afternoon.   It happened that the hotel manager was at the lobby.   My brother spoke to him and he arranged a trip just for us since there were 9 of us.   While waiting for the bus, the boys ran around and played at the lobby.

There was a mini playground at the other end of the restaurant where we had breakfast.   Png Png played there while waiting for the bus.

We shopping at Batam City Square, BCS in short.   The tour guide who brought us around yesterday said that BCS stands for Batam cha bor swee (meaning Batam girls are pretty).   She is a humurous guide.

Png Png was very happy riding this toy car in the supermarket.   We were very relied to find this toy car in the supermarket.   Png Png wanted to be carried most of the time.   My sister in law's brother carried Png Png most of the time as my hubby brought Chen Chen around instead of shopping with us.

The boys said they were very tired and sat on the side of the escalator while waiting for the transport service back to the hotel

We booked Lunar New Year eve dinner at the hotel.   We were early but my parents, brother, sister in law and her brother were sleeping.   In the end, we were late for the dinner.  The choice of food was very limited and nothing special.   There was a table with a giant plate of yu sheng.   I learned that the hotel guests came together to lao yu sheng at that table.   We missed it.    After dinner, there was lucky draw event.   As there were very few guests and there was a big group of us, we got many lucky draws.   Chen Chen went up to the hotel staff to pick the lucky draw ang pow which was hung on the fortune tree.













Png Png's turn to go up to the fortune tree to choose the lucky ang pow.   The prizes weren't fantastic.   We got some discount vouchers, a night complimentary stay at the hotel (not applicable on week ends and public holiday).   We didn't make use of the vouchers and the complimentary stay.  The best prizes were 3 SGD2 ang pows.

My hubby wanted to sleep and Chen Chen wanted to play iphone games. I brought Png Png and joined my brother to loiter around the hotel premises. There were hotel guests playing fire crackers and fireworks. It was BEAUTIFUL! But I didn't bring my camera along oh....

Lunar New Year 2011 Day 4

This is the first time I managed to get the same clothes for my 2 boys. Chen Chen's favorite pose. In fact, he poses only in this manner when taking picture. Chen Chen taught Png Png his signature pose.Got it.Why stuck cotton wool in ears? Lion dance performance! The lion dance "music" is too loud for adults, let alone kids. Our ex-neighbour invited us to their house to watch Lion dance performance. The 3 Lion dance performance pictures were taken at my office, not my ex-neighbour's place. Boo boo..... Hubby didn't take picture of Lion dance performance at my neighbour's place.

Lunar New Year 2011 Day 3

Today we visited all the big houses

Pa pa's childhood friend stays in a bungalow house. Png Png was hungry the minute we reached the place. I fed him in the dining area.
The air-con was off. It was very warm. Png Png sweated till his hair was all wet

Next, we visited my cousin who stays in a semi-detached house. There were a few kiddy rides in the porch. Png Png liked the excavator
He also liked the fire engine. Chen Chen preferred this ride
The two boys were riding the kiddy rides happily. At last, I could enjoy the Chinese New Year goodies and relax Last house visit that we went today was my grandma's house. We left after a short while as Chen Chen was jumping around in the living room and misbehaving.
