Christmas party at Caroline's house

Caroline threw a Christmas party on 29th November at her place. It was a very meaningful party as children were to pack goodie bags for sending to poor people in Cambodia.

I cut goodie bag tags when we reached Caroline's place and had a good chat with friends. Talked a lot about P1 registration for our elder child.

Caroline gave a presentation about life of people particularly the children in Cambodia and told our children how fortunate they are. She really has a hand with children. She could catch their attention and get them to participate in her questions. After the presentation, the children were to pack 5 goodie bags for people in Cambodia. The goodie bag consisted of a toothpaste, toothbrush and face towel. All the children took their seat in the long dinning table in the hall. Chen Chen insisted seating at the side table probably the seats were taken up. Winnie's younger son Gavin joined him at the side table

He was the first child to complete the tags. Very rare that he worked so fast. He took the easy way out by pasting stickers and stamping pictures on most of the tags. He only drew very simple pictutre on 2 tags. The other children drew pictures on the tag.

While putting Png Png to bed during nap time, I asked him what song can we sing that has words that start with letter B (I was teaching him letter B)? Ba Ba Black sheep, Wheels on the bus, ......


Chen Chen "composed" a song on the spot.

Bright Tots Campus term 3 lesson 3

Today we did


1. Sing Good Morning, I am Special, Row Row Row your boat, Drive Drive Drive your car, Drive Drive Drive your train and Twinkle Twinkle Traffic light songs


2. Teacher Shirley put up 1 piece of a 2 pieces puzzle on the wall with blue tag and let the tots go to the wall to match the puzzle


3. Teacher Shirley took out toy vehicles in the following sequence from "magic" bag - red fire engine, blue/yellow concrete mixer, blue car, yellow excavator and blue/white ambulence. She asked tots the sequence of the toy vehicles she showed and the color of the vehicle. This is to train sequential memory. Sequential memory is short term memory


4. Each tot had a toy vehicle from the "magic" bag. Teacher Shirley asked questions like which toy has no wheel (excavator), which toy has siren (ambulence), which toy has ladder(fire engine), which toy has a barrel (concrete mixer). This is to train observation skill


5. Each tot was given a piece of paper in clear folder with 8 pictures (bus, aeroplane, motor bike, ship, bicycle, jeep, train, racing car) and 8 pieces of pink color paper with the corresponding pictures. Tots had to match the pink color paper picture to the picture on the paper in the clear folder

6. Made craft sail boat. This craft teaches pre-maths concepts of shapes, colors and proportions. Apart from the basic shapes and colors like semi-circle, fuschia (highlighter pink) and lime green colors were introudced in this craft. This craft also trains eye-hand coordination and builds vocabulary (semi-circle, fuschia, lime green). Such kind of craft provides opportunities for the tot to look at shapes with different perspectives, thus training an eye for details and sharpens observation skills. A triangle can be a sail, a semi-circle can be the hull of the boat7. Teacher Shirley flashed cards of vehicles and asked tots the sequence of the flash cards She said can train sequential memory with flash cards or real toy as in item 3

Bento Poodle

Yesterday I was very sick that I didn't go back to my mum's place to visit Chen Chen. I made bento for him to cheer him up. This was my maiden BentoI was so sad that Chen Chen couldn't tell that it's a poodle. Can you?

Lesson on letter A

Today we stayed at home since Png Png contacted hand foot mouth disease. Luckily his enrichment class was postponed and the workshop I signed up for him was cancelled. Since Chen Chen was confined at my parents' place, I took this opportunity to kick start teaching Png Png letter A which I long planned but have not started yet

Png Png is very affectionate nowadays. He hugs and kisses me everyday. He does that to me only. This made many green eyes monster (jealousy). Well, this puts me on cloud 9. Hahaha...

I made paint myself to let Png Png do painting (vinegar. baking powder, honey 1 spoon each and 2 spoons of corn flour and drops of coloring). I guided Png Png to color Apple

Hand Foot Mouth disease on Png Png

I felt Png Png warm while nursing him. I took his temperature. It was 38.8 degree. Gosh! I tried not to give him medication and sponged him till closed to 4 am when hubby woked up. He said no point sponging Png Png since his fever went yo yo. We fed him brufen. Png Png's fever went down. I also had fever without knowing it myself

I went back to my own place with Png Png daily since Tuesday to isolate Chen Chen and Png Png. Good thing today hubby was on half day leave. I felt goggy and chill the whole day. In the evening, I consulted doctor and was diagnosed to have tonsilitis. My temperature was 39.2 degree. I told doctor my son had hand foot mouth disease. Could I have contacted hand foot mouth disease. Doctor checked my throat again and confirmed it was tonsilitis. I told her Png Png had fever and a blister on his hand. She said very likely to be hand foot mouth disease. I called hubby to bring Png Png to the clinic to consult doctor while I went home to rest.

Hubby came back with bad news. Png Png contacted hand foot mouth disease too. It was Friday the 13th. No wonder so unlucky.

We always have problem getting the boys to nap. Chen Chen always disturb Png Png and refuses to nap when he is at home. His childcare teacher said he sleeps well during nap time

Hand Foot Mouth Disease on Chen Chen

Chen Chen had fever for no reason. My mum gave him the Chinese medicine which was prescribed to Chen Chen for fever. It worked to bring down his fever twice but not this time. His fever went down then up again. When I came home from work, Chen Chen told me he wanna consult doctor. I saw 2 blisters on his lips. I was kinda worried. The bad news was he contacted hand foot mouth disease. He was given 8 days mc then extended for another 6 days. He peeled his skin so his skin got broken before it healed and dried up

His hand and foot on 14 Nov - 6th day after the symptom started. He almost recovered
